Cineworld in Manchester was prosecuted in 2015 and fined £9,500 after two employees were electrocuted by a defective popcorn machine that hadn’t received a PAT test.
Sabel Cosmetics Ltd had an unannounced inspection from the HSE on 5th July 2022 and an investigation discovered deficiencies that posed serious risks of electric shock to workers. They pleaded guilty to breaching Regulation 4 (1) of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and were subsequently fined £56,695 plus court costs.
